Color and Feelings

Color always had an effect on me whether it was conscious or subconscious. After reading about color and watching the videos that were provided as well as my own research I realize that there is science behind it and there is proven emotional reaction with different colors.

What fascinates me about color is that it can subconsciously effect your feelings. Such as red may make you mad or hungry just as green or blue may make you calm and peaceful. To me that is really neat. When they say that a lot of restaurants paint red in them to promote hunger I thought that it was really something.

I like that when they were talking about the bolder the colors the more intense the emotions. That stuck out to me. When you see a very vivid painting with intense and bold hues and sharp contrast it evokes more reaction and make you feeling the painting.

When learning about the Goya paintings it is pretty obvious when he is painting something that is a dark emotion such as despair he chooses very dark and intense colors. It seems to be a pretty common theme through most art. Bright and colorful pictures are generally more upbeat emotions whereas darker ones are more somber.
